About SERAY WURIE FOUNDATION

The SERAY WURIE FOUNDATION acts as a youth-led leader advancing adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health and rights (AYSRHR), education, gender equality, and bodily autonomy across communities. We are officially registered and operate within Sierra Leone, delivering high-quality, scientifically accurate health information and essential resources directly to young people where they need them most.

As a specialized advocacy and health literacy provider, the SERAY WURIE FOUNDATION works alongside local communities, healthcare professionals, and key stakeholders to build a sustainable platform that creates a lasting impact on long-term educational and health outcomes. Our youth-centered service delivery models are specifically adapted to meet young people in safe, judgment-free environments—treating them as active partners in change rather than passive recipients of services.

Our operational strategy ensures complete compliance with national health priorities and protective educational frameworks. By fostering strong administrative partnerships, coordinating with registered clinical nurses, and supporting student-led safety chapters in schools, we actively participate in strengthening local health systems. We remain dedicated to ensuring that all young people can continue their education in a protective, equitable, and completely non-discriminatory environment.

Meet the heart of the SERAY WURIE FOUNDATION!

The SERAY WURIE FOUNDATION is a volunteer-based organization powered by a team of certified clinical nurses, youth volunteers, and administrative staff who donate their time and skills. Our team works directly in communities to provide young people with accurate, scientifically verified health information in safe, judgment-free environments.

Our Founder

The SERAY WURIE FOUNDATION was founded by Adama Seray-Wurie, a dedicated advocate for adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health and rights (AYSRHR) and education. Growing up as a student in Sierra Leone, she witnessed firsthand how young people routinely navigated puberty, anatomical development, and reproductive health with limited guidance. Because foundational health education was overlooked in school settings, students were frequently left to rely on misinformation and schoolyard myths during critical stages of their development. Motivated by these systemic gaps, she established the organization to provide young people with direct access to accurate biological facts, professional medical guidance, and the essential resources needed to manage their health with dignity and remain safely in school.

Driven by the belief that every girl deserves access to accurate health information, supportive resources, and opportunities to thrive, Adama established the SERAY WURIE FOUNDATION to provide the knowledge, support, and health literacy she wished had been available to her and her peers during their youth.
