Menstrual Health Education at St. Raphael’s
Our ongoing educational initiatives brought our volunteer team to St. Raphael's Catholic Secondary School for a collaborative public health outreach seminar. This specialized session was designed to provide young students with an objective, judgment-free educational environment focused on physical health, personal development, and menstrual health and management. By validating student perspectives and centering our programming around the lived experiences of young people, our team successfully fostered an atmosphere of deep trust, safety, and mutual dignity.
The seminar provided a comprehensive overview of menstrual health, personal boundaries, and the fundamental right to access accurate biological information. Our volunteer clinical nurses and youth volunteers worked closely with small groups to answer questions directly, counter harmful misconceptions, and distribute 20 sanitary pads to the students. This direct, evidence-based school intervention remains vital for promoting health equity, boosting self-esteem, and ensuring young people can comfortably manage their health and remain safely in school.
