Building Our Bridges

Equipping university volunteers and registered clinical nurses to champion bodily autonomy and youth sexual and reproductive rights.

About the Program

The Building Our Bridges Training is a dynamic, multi-day intensive capacity-building program under the Girls Forward Initiative. This program explicitly brings university volunteers together with registered clinical nurses to co-create a youth-responsive, equitable, and non-discriminatory health ecosystem. By blending professional medical expertise with youth leadership, we ensure young people serve as active partners in change rather than passive beneficiaries.

Our training addresses deep-seated systemic barriers, restrictive gender norms, and social taboos that directly hinder adolescent health and girls' education in Sierra Leone. Through collaborative training tracks, we empower advocates to deliver accurate health literacy, protect peer privacy, and support the baseline rights of young women to make informed choices about their bodies and futures.
